Nameplate Wordmarks

Eight ways to set a name as a wordmark and nothing else. No symbol, no icon, no lock-up to hold together. Two layouts are tightly tracked lowercase, two are wide caps, one stacks onto two lines for a long name, and the rest sit between. Each is built on a typeface with an open licence, so you can set your own name and ship it without paying anyone.

Each layout is an editable SVG with a demo name in place, and the font files come with their licence text. The note covers the three things that go wrong when you type your own name in: the spacing after a capital, the gap around a lowercase r, and what to do with an ampersand. PNG exports, a favicon set and the colour values are in there too, and since a favicon from a wordmark is really just the first letter, the note says how to crop it.

Suits a name worth reading. A two-word agency, a surname practice, a made-up product word. Wrong choice if your name runs to five words, or if you need something legible at 16 pixels on its own. A wordmark is not that. Buy a mark for that instead.
